In early 2024, I was introduced to the Enduring Hearts mission by the CEO and my friend, Lynda Smith. I was grateful to learn about this critical mission and to play a small part in the effort to fund research and seek out a permanent cure to ensure children with heart transplants have a full and robust life.
I wanted to design a piece of jewelry that was distinct and original, but with meaning. As I researched the cause, I quickly realized there are many layers of individuals that play a vital role in giving new life to these children with heart transplants. The science and research, the surgeons, the nurses, the specialty hospitals, the families, and most importantly, the donors who lose their life to give life to another.
The pendant’s name, “Unsung Heroes”, honors and celebrates the dedication of all the individuals, professionals, and institutions that make this lifesaving procedure possible. The multiplicity of hearts around the main heart with a faceted garnet symbolizes all who have contributed their efforts.
